UTD Mercury Orientation Issue, 2021

Graphic Design

The annual Orientation issue of The Mercury is one of the largest-scale projects the graphics editor gets to handle in terms of art direction. There are specialty spreads occasionally, but the Orientation issue is the opportunity for the graphics team to shine.

Working on this issue is one of my favorite memories from my time as graphics editor. Because we had buy-in from all teams, the theme of the roaring 20s is enforced not only through graphics direction but in the writing and photography as well.

The graphics team in particular met early to determine the inspiration, look, and feel for the overall paper. I prepared all of the templates and approved all graphics for final printing.
